East KIRKBY airfield is currently a heritage site, dedicated by the owners, the Panton brothers, to their brother who was killed in a Lancaster bomber during the second world war. They own a non-flying lancaster, which, on special occasions, they taxi along the peritrack. The site is laid out on the lines of a 1940s Royal Air Force Station and houses a lot of Air Force Memorabilia. As Methodists, they do not open the site on Sundays, but the site is open at most times.
